OIL Shikshya Ratna Puraskar, 2017 presented to 5 teachers

DIBRUGARH, Dec 5 - The OIL Shikshya Ratna Puraskar, 2017 was given away by Governor Jagdish Mukhi to five teachers at a ceremony held today at Duliajan Club in Duliajan.

The Shikshya Ratna Puraskar consists of cash incentive of Rs one lakh, a silver salver and mementoes to each of the awardees. The function was attended by Utpal Bora, CMD, OIL and other officials of the company, among others.

The five teachers on whom the OIL Shikshya Ratna Puraskar, 2017 was conferred are:Biren Borah, North Lakhimpur Town Model LPS, Lakhimpur; Jiban Borah, Deodia Ati Sr Basic School, Majuli; Bhabakanta Pujari, Madhavdev High School, Lakhimpur; Akhil Baruah, Darrang College, Sonitpur and Sonmai Boruah, Tingkhong Higher Secondary School, Dibrugarh.

While congratulating the recipients of the OIL Shikshya Ratna Puraskar-2017, Mukhi, in his address, complimented the efforts of OIL and stated that the Shikshya Ratna Puraskar is not just an award but a platform to encourage other teachers to emulate teaching excellence. He praised Oil India for its efforts under its CSR initiatives and performing beyond set annual target as per the Company�s Act.

The OIL CMD, Utpal Borah congratulated the awardees and reiterated the CSR initiatives of OIL in various sectors that promises to continue the development work for people residing in its operational areas. RCE, BP Sarmah, in his welcome address, stated the objective of the award ceremony and the various initiatives of OIL�s social interventions.

Oil India Ltd, under its educational CSR initiative, has been awarding �OIL Shikshya Ratna Puraskar� honouring the services of serving teachers of all provincialised schools (elementary to secondary) under the Government of Assam and all affiliated non-technical undergraduate colleges under State universities of Assam since 2013.

It may be noted that the names of the recipients of OIL Shikshya Ratna Puraskar 2017 were announced through a press advertisement on Teachers� Day this year. Earlier, the teachers had submitted their self-nominations for the award against the press advertisement issued by OIL. IL&FS Education was entrusted with the task of scrutinizing the entries and conducting the selection process through an independent jury comprising distinguished members from education fraternity and representatives from Dibrugarh and Gauhati Universities.

The award ceremony was followed by a teachers� workshop conducted by resource persons of IL&FS Education. Around 300 teachers from OIL�s operational areas participated in the workshop.
