GUWAHATI, Dec 19 - As per an MoU between the Oil India Limited (OIL) and the Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC), the OIL has reimbursed the cost of Rs 67,10,860 for two compactors procured by the GMC for garbage disposal in the city.
The cheque for the amount was presented by the Group General Manager (PLS), OIL, Rahul Chaudhury, along with Head (L&C), OIL, SK Rai and Manager (PR & C), OIL, Tridib Duvarah to GMC Commissioner Narayan Konwar and Additional Commissioner Dayananda Rajbongshi at the Commissioner�s Office GMC today, a press release said.
The OIL has also committed itself to providing financial assistance to the GMC for procurement and installation of 1,000 twin litter bins for its garbage disposal system in various areas of the city. The OIL has already donated Rs 25 lakh as the first instalment for the procurement of 250 twin litter bins to the GMC. The balance amount will be donated on utilisation of the first instalment.
In addition, the OIL has provided Rs 32.54 lakh to the Guwahati Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) for the dredging, cleaning and development of part of the Bondajan stream, a natural water channel flowing near and through the land belonging to the OIL at Narengi.
