Oil India�s aid to �Surjya�

GUWAHATI, Oct 25 - Oil India Ltd recently presented biennial financial assistance of Rs 1.50 lakh to noted cultural organisation �Surjya�, a press release stated.

This was Oil India�s positive response to Surjya�s appeal for a biennial financial assistance of Rs 1.50 lakh to institute two awards in the name of national award-winning musician and film director Late Sher Choudhury and Bidyut Chakravortty. The awards will be named: 1. Sher Choudhury Oil India Yuva Pratibha Puraskar (for a young talent in the field of music of Assam); 2. Bidyut Chakravortty Oil India Yuva Pratibha Puraskar (For a young talent in the field of cinema of Assam). Each of the awards will have citation, trophy, felicitation items and a cheque of Rs 50,000. The awardees will be selected by a panel of experts in the filed of music and cinema. The award presentation function will also have a lecture by a national-level stalwart in any creative field.

On October 22, the cheque of Rs 1.50 lakh was presented for and on behalf of Oil India Ltd by BK Mishra, General Manager (PSL), Oil India Ltd to a three-member �Surjya� delegation comprising its president Santanu Chowdhury, Nayan Prasad and Labu Senapati in the presence of a batch of senior officials of Oil India Ltd.
