Oil India lift UN Brahma Gold Cup

UDALGURI, Nov17 - Oil India Football Club, Duliajan clinched the title in the Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma Gold Cup Football Tournament in its silver jubilee year.

In the final played at the Udalguri Stadium here today, the Duliajan team outclassed Eleven Star (Blue Star) of Bongaigaon 4-1.

Maintaining domination in the match, Oil India netted all the four goals in the first session itself. Mondial Rongmei opened the account in the very 5th minute while Jayanta Basumatary increased the margin in the26th minute. After that it was Mintu Boro�s turn who fired two back to back salvos in the 32nd and 42nd minute respectively to take an unassailable 4-1 lead. Hirak Boro narrowed the gap in the second session.

Oil India striker Geremsa Basumatary was adjudged the best player of the tournament. Cabinet Minister Rihon Daimari gave away the trophy to the jubilant winning team while BAC deputy chief Prodeep Kumar Daimari handed over the runners up trophy to the Blue Star FC of Bongaigaon.

A souvenir was brought out on the occasion, edited by PK Daimari was released by Lwmshrao Daimari, executive member of BTC. Hagrama Mohilary, Chief of BTC attended the final match as chief guest and announced a package of Rs 10 crore under the Chief Minister�s signature project for construction of the Udalguri Stadium.
