Oil India FC retain ATPA Shield

JORHAT, Nov 9 - Oil India Football Club, Duliajan retained the ATPA Shield with a 2-1 victory against last year�s finalists Assam Rifles Soccer Team.

It was, however, the riflemen who went 1-0 ahead in the 7th minute when Haokip anticipated a flag kick taken by GK Anal and pushed home. In the very next minute Haokip missed another opportunity hitting the upright.

But the Oil boys made a tremendous fightback and levelled the issue in the 24th minute. Jayanta Basumatary netted the equaliser with a sharp header.

After the break, the Assam Rifles players started with a positive note and made a couple of beautiful moves. But they failed to finish as the opponent defenders stood firm.

Jayanta made it again in the 68th minute which finally proved to be the match winner. In the closing function Raj Baruah, president ATPA, Tridip Hazarika, PRO OIL, Ankur Dutta, secretary AFA and Rana Goswami, local MLA and president JDSA were present and they gave away the prizes.
