DULIAJAN, March 26 Host Oil India Limited (OIL) Football Club marched into the final of the OIL Challenge Gold Cup Football Championship with a narrow 1-0 victory against Tower George Telegraph of Kolkata at the Nehru Maidan here today.

The all important goal was netted by Jayanta Basumatary in the 19th minute.

In a keenly contested quarterfinal encounter, the local boys were seen in better shape and raided the oponent territory with planned moves. But due to poor anticipation at the up front they failed to increase the margin.

Medio Zaidin Hmar set the ball for Jayanta who beat George custodian Cherodeep Chattarjee with a powerful drive.

For OIL, midfielders F Wary and Mintu Boro tried to feed their strikers Manas Manjit Chetia and Jayanta Basumatary using the flanks. But the OIL attackers failed to anticipate the throughs properly. For the Kolkata side, Padro and Orak Orak tried hard to enter the OIL striking zone but the watertight OIL defence hardly left any space for them. For rough play Biplob Sonowal of OIL and Jonathan of George were cautioned.
