OIL annex Naroram Barman football title

TIHU, Aug 5 - Oil India Limited FC, Duliajan annexed the 41st Naroram Barman Football Tournament title defeating Mohammedan Sporting Club, Kolkata 4-3 via tie-breaker at the Chamata stadium near here today.

The match ended in a goalless draw during regulation time. Jyotku Basumatary, Sudesh Wary, Mandila Rongmei and Milan Basumatary found the back of the net for the Duliajan outfit while Abdul Qadir, Eric Barbour and David Fianco converted their penalties for Mohammedan Sporting. Milan Basumatary of Oil India was adjudged the best player of the final.

The match was formally inaugurated by Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal in the presence of 20,000 spectators. The inaugural function was attended by Minister of Industries and Commerce Chandra Mohan Patowary, Nalbari MLA Ashok Sarma, Barkhetri MLA Narayan Deka, Assam Football Association secretary Ankur Dutta, Member Secretary of SLAC for Sports and Youth Welfare Lakhya Konwar, Deputy Commissioner of Nalbari district Sanjeeb Kumar Das, Director of Sports and Youth Welfare Pabitra Ram Khound, among others. The tournament was organised by Chamata Anchalik Krira Sangha and was sponsored by Oil India Limited, Noida.
