Officers to check price rise in city markets

GUWAHATI, June 27 - Following direction from the Chief Minister, the Kamrup Metro district administration today detailed a number of senior officers to personally visit all the markets in the city to check price rise of different essential commodities and also to oversee implementation of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan in the market places.

The officers, some of whom are of additional deputy commissioner rank, will also check the prices of different varieties of fruits and fish in the market in view of the current month of Ramzan, said an order issued by the administration.

In course of their visits, the officers will take assistance from the officials of local bodies, Legal Metrology department and police.

They have also been asked to submit weekly reports to the district administration.

Meanwhile, 10 cases have been filed against unscrupulous traders under various sections of the Essential Commodities Act and Legal Metrology Order.
