Odisha set up title clash with Manipur

DERGAON, May 10 � Defending champions Odisha and 16-time winners Manipur will face off in the final of the 20th Women�s National Football Championships after defeating Jharkhand and Delhi respectively in the semifinals played simultaneously in Golaghat and Bokakhat today.

Manipur thrashed Delhi, which entered the semifinal for the first time, 7-0 while Odisha trounced Jharkhand 3-0.

Manipur captain and AIFF Women�s Player of the Year Oinam Bembem Devi drew the first blood in the 24th minute with a powerful left-footer bulging the top corner of the net at Bokakhat.

India forward Bala Devi netted a hattrick with other India players � Dangmei Grace, Parmeshwori Devi and rookie Ngonbi Devi also getting on the scoresheet.

At Golaghat, Jharkhand put up a valiant display against Odisha. What clicked for Odisha was a combination of individual brilliance and profligacy from their opponents.

For Odisha, Jabamani Soren struck twice while Subha Prava Rout scored the third goal.

The final is slated for May 12 at Golaghat.
