Odisha is new destination for Bangla migrants

NEW DELHI, March 28 - After the Northeast, Odisha has emerged as the new hot spot for illegal Bangladeshi migrants.

According to official records around 3,700 such immigrants have been identified in Odisha. Though they have been found involved in cases of petty theft, illegal fishing, there have been no reports of involvement of these migrants in any major crime, said Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju in a Lok Sabha reply.

The illegal migrants, when detected, are dealt with as per provisions of the Foreigners Act, 1946, he said.
