Oct 30 blasts trial begins

GUWAHATI, Feb 28 � The trial into the October 30, 2008 serial blasts began in the Court of District and Sessions Judge, Kamrup with the maiden hearing taking place today.

The court assessed the records and fixed March 14 for consideration of charges against the 12 accused including NDFB chief Ranjan Daimary.

Advocate Manas Sarania appeared on behalf of the accused. Of the 22 accused chargesheeted by the Central Bureau of Investigation, 12 including Daimary are presently in judicial custody, while the rest are on the run.

The court also transferred the case for trial to the Court of Additional Sessions Judge, Kamrup.

Over 90 persons were killed and hundreds injured in the serial blasts triggered by the NDFB in different places of the State on October 30, 2008.
