GUWAHATI, March 31 - North Western Railway Sports Association (NWRSA) emerged champions in the 61st Inter Railway Cricket Tournament.

In the four-day final of the championship at the NF Railway Sports Association Stadium, Maligaon today, NWRSA overcame South Central Railway Sports Association (SCRSA) by the virtue of their first innings lead.

On the final day today, in reply to NWRSA�s first innings total of 256, SCRSA, resuming at an overnight score of 73 for 4, were all out for 188 in 69.3 overs.

In the second innings NWRSA were 104 for five in 36 overs when the match was called off.

For SCRSA, G Shyam Sundar who remained not out on 42 yesterday, tried with a best effort and scored 79 off 155 balls. But the other batsmen failed to provide him able support.

The final stage of the championship was organised by the NF Railway Sports Association where top eight qualifying teams took part.

Brief scores: NWRSA 1st innings 256.

SCRSA 1st innings (overnight 73/4 in 29 Overs) 188 (G Shyam Sundar 79, Hemanth Singh 37, A Rakesh 22, Kapil Dhaka 14; Gaurav Khatri 5/71, Madhur Khatri 2/50, Sailendra Gahlot 2/39).

NWRSA 2nd innings 104/5 (Gaurav Meena 79 n.o, 118B, 4x14; Sk M Basha 2/29, B Sudhakar 2/33, M Suresh 1/27).
