NSS Day observed at Goalpara College

GOALPARA, Sept 30 - The National Service Scheme (NSS) Goalpara College unit observed the NSS Day recently at the college premises with a daylong programme.

The programme began with a cleanliness drive at the NSS office at the college, which was followed by the inaugural speech by the Principal i/c, Goalpara College, Amiya Kr Boro who highlighted various activities under NSS. He also urged the students to be greatly involved in community services as NSS volunteers apart from their regular studies.

The programme coordinator, NSS, Dhananjoy Medhi, explained the significance of the day and spoke in details on the activities of the NSS, especially to the new NSS volunteers of the college.

Project officer, District Disaster Management Authority, Kuldip Kalita who spoke on the necessity of the mock drill and emergency care also organised a mock drill on earthquake and fire besides a demonstration on providing first aid and emergency rescue operation.

Asst Dy Directors, Civil Defence, Pradip Benerjee, Fireman, Goalpara Fire Station, Abdul Malek Mondal and A Hussain from DDMA acted as resource persons. Nearly 200 students participated in the programme.
