NSCN-K to check illegal immigration

By Correspondent

DIMAPUR, Nov 2 Noting the alarming growth of illegal immigrants in Nagaland, the NSCN-K has decided to check and control influx of illegal Bangladeshi immigrants and others from mainland India.

A release issued by the NSCN-K said the outfit in coordination with regional authorities will identify and record every illegal immigrant family living in Nagaland while urging for fullest cooperation from Naga land owners as and when they are approached by NSCN-K officials for information and other necessary papers of the non-Naga tenants and farmers.

The outfit also directed its regional authorities not to leave any area/region unchecked and table proper inquiry and records to its Home Ministry office at the earliest.

Nagas must ensure that future generation Nagas are not buried by ignorance of today, the release said.

Stating that Naga Homeland is not a sponge to absorb all illegal immigrants from the neighbouring States, the NSCN-K said the issue of influx of Bangladeshis and others from mainland India is certainly a powder keg which will explode in a decade or so if the Naga people fail to tackle this enormous threat with firmness at the earliest.

Accusing the State Government of becoming eerily silent on this issue, it lamented that the Naga Hoho, NSF and NPMHR have become caged parrots knowing nothing about the reality except parroting the lines of their masters at Hebron Camp.
