KOHIMA, July 5 � The NSCN-K Ceasefire Supervisory Board (CSB) supervisor Lincoln has stated that the group is willing to stop all forms of factional violence provided the Khole-Kitovi faction also agrees to totally stop it. He stated this while interacting with media persons after the closed-door meeting of the Ceasefire Supervisory Board in Kohima on Tuesday.
Reacting to the statement of Centre�s representative and CSB Chairman Maj Gen (retd) N George that �factional clashes between the groups have reached a stage not conducive for public safety�, Lincoln said, �We are for peace,� adding that if he (George) is in a position to convene a joint sitting with other groups, NSCN-K is willing to talk across the table in order to stop all forms of factional violence�.
He also revealed that he himself had given a written assurance to the CSB Chairman to put a halt to factional clashes but regretted that the CSB chairman was unable to get any such assurance from the other group.
On the other hand, Lincoln also revealed that the NSCN-K leadership is willing to sit across the table with Government of India to find a solution to the vexed Indo-Naga problem if the latter extends a formal invitation.
�Our leadership is preparing to enter into formal talks with GoI, provided there is a formal invitation,� he said.
Lincoln said the NSCN-K has put forth its demand for establishing a sub-office at Dimapur at the CSB meeting on Tuesday while also rebutting the allegations of Maj Gen George that it would be utilised as a centre for extorting money from the public. �We are also against extortion and we even penalise those involved in such nefarious activities,� he said.
He said that levying of taxes has nothing to do with ceasefire ground rules. He also clarified that the sub-office at Dimapur was required in order to have better coordination with all agencies located within Kohima and Dimapur for implementation of CFGR.
Meanwhile, NSCN-K military representative Isak Sumi, who was also present there, wondered why the sanctioned designated camp at Kuthur had been withdrawn.
He termed as false the contention of George that the establishment of the Kuthur camp would increase violence and he pointed out that other groups have already been granted several designated camps.
