NSCN-IM official�s home raided

DIMAPUR, May 21 � The Assam Rifles conducted a surprise raid in the private residence of an NSCN-IM official early Thursday morning and seized a huge cache of ammunition, cash and incriminating documents.

According to police, the Assam Rifles personnel seized Rs 4.73 lakh in cash, huge cache of live ammunition and caught two youths during the raid.

Meanwhile, the Angami Region, NSCN-IM, while strongly condemning what it called �unwarranted act� of the Assam Rifles in raiding the residence of KK Angami, member, Steering Committee, the highest policy making body of NSCN-IM, at Chedema village, Kohima on Thursday, has termed it as an act of �looting�.

A release issued by NSCN-IM alleged that the Assam Rifles jawans broke open the residence of KK Angami in his absence and looted the ammunition, cash and documentary records. �Such an act is totally a violation of the laid down ceasefire ground rules and a direct challenge against the NSCN/GPRN,� the release said adding that the Assam Rifles should immediately return the seized ammunition along with the cash and documentary records.

It has also asked the Assam Rifles to desist from involving in such provocative act, which will lead to hampering of the peaceful situation.

Moreover, stating that the two youth arrested by the Assam Rifles are innocent villagers and not members of NSCN/GPRN, it demanded that they be released immediately.
