NSCN-IM chief lands in Dimapur

By Correspondent

DIMAPUR, March 2 NSCN-IM chairman Isak Chishi Swu, who landed here yesterday after holding a round of talks with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in Delhi, said all those willing to join the process of reconciliation will be welcomed with open arms.

The NSCN-IM leader was given a warm reception by representatives of the Naga civil society and school students upon his arrival at Dimapur airport. He was accompanied by his wife Avuli Swu.

Swu said he is here in Nagaland solely to take the reconciliation process forward. We welcome all the people who agree to join the reconciliation, he stated.

But he evaded a direct response to media queries on the issue of Eastern Nagaland where the two NSCN factions are fighting a bitter battle and instead chose to reiterate that the NSCN-IM is always committed to the principles that they have been standing for while repeating that everybody is welcome to join them in reconciliation.

Replying to another question, Swu said he is willing to meet NSCN-K chairman SS Khaplang in a highest level reconciliation meet any time here or in any other location if they come adding We welcome them.

Giving a brief update on the talks held with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh at Delhi recently, the NSCN-IM chairman voiced confidence that he (PM) is fully committed to an early settlement of the Naga issue as per the assurance given by the latter. Terming the meeting with the PM as a nice meeting, he said the NSCN-IM on their part welcomes the assurance of early settlement given by the countrys head.

Despite several rounds of talks with the Centre led by the Prime Minister in recent weeks, details have not been divulged so far.
