NRL Quiz grand finale tomorrow

GUWAHATI, Jan 17 � The NRL Quiz that kicked off in Golaghat on November 29 last, will witness its grand finale on January 19, at Guwahati. The event would be conducted by legendary quiz masters Neil O�Brien and Barry O�Brien.

Organised by Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL), the NRL Quiz is a State-level inter institutional mega quizzing event with one of the highest ever winner prize money of Rs 5 lakh in the country. The prize money for the first runner-up and second runner-up teams is Rs. 1 lakh and Rs. 50,000 respectively.

As a run up to the grand finale, the preliminary zonal rounds have been successfully conducted across the entire State, covered in eight zones. The preliminaries received tremendous response with a total of more than 300 teams participating in the zonal rounds.

Total 24 teams have qualified for the grand finale from the zonal rounds where the first three teams were awarded with the prize money of Rs 20,000, Rs 10,000 and Rs 5,000 respectively. Assam's top quizmaster Dilip Kumar Barua conducted the quiz in Golaghat and Guwahati, while other quizmasters of repute like Sailen Baishya conducted the quiz in Dibrugarh, Nalbari and Bongaigaon and Abhra Das conducted the quiz at Nagaon, Tezpur and Silchar.

The mega finale is expected to draw large crowd of quizzing enthusiasts from across the city and the State and would be televised live on Doordarshan, mentioned a press statement.

The quiz is a part of NRL's Corporate Social Responsibility initiative to provide a platform and promote the spirit of education, knowledge and sporting spirit amongst the students of the State. It may be mentioned that education is a prime focus area of NRL�s CSR policy.
