NRL facilitates group insurance for KNP staff

By Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, May 27 - As part of its CSR, NRL has facilitated group insurance for 1,129 forest staff of Kaziranga National Park (KNP) with the National Insurance Company. The Group Personal Accident Insurance Policy was ceremonially handed over to the Director, KNP, P Sivakumar by the MD, NRL, SK Barua in the presence of DFO Upper Assam Wildlife Division, Rohini Ballave Saikia, KNP rangers and officials of NRL and National Insurance Company at Kaziranga on Sunday.

The Group Personal Accident Insurance Policy will provide an insured sum of Rs 5 lakh per insured person/nominee for death or bodily injury resulting solely and directly from accident caused by external violent and visible means. Weekly benefit up to Rs 5,000 for maximum 104 weeks has also been provided for temporary disablement. The insured amount can be directly claimed from National Insurance Co. Ltd., Golaghat.

This policy, initiated by NRL, will be effective from April 1, 2019 for a one-year term initially and to be further extended on yearly basis.

Speaking on the occasion, Sivakumar said that NRL was a success story in business enterprise while KNP was one in wildlife conservation efforts. With both the entities working and complementing each other, greater things can be achieved, he said.

Barua in his address said that since its very inception, NRLs identity had been entwined with KNP being adjacent to each other in location and therefore reaching out to KNP had been a natural recourse. He hoped to see more such meaningful collaborations in the future.

Saikia thanked NRL for the noble and timely gesture and said that it would go a long way in securing the welfare of the forest guards.
