NRI magazine released at Kaziranga University

GUWAHATI, Jan 13 � Amid the celebration of its Winter Festival, the Kaziranga University recently hosted the release event of the sixth issue of the magazine, Friends, at its campus in Jorhat, a press release stated.

Friends is a globally published magazine, a medium for non-resident Indians hailing from diverse parts of the North Eastern States, to stimulate, motivate, inspire and guide students and youths of the region. Non-resident experts and professionals from diverse backgrounds, having roots in the region, deliberate on various education and career related issues in the magazine.

The magazine has been published every year since 2009 and this year�s issue is a compilation of the success stories of residents and non-residents who have made their mark by winning awards and recognition and who have successfully contributed to their motherland.

The magazine was officially launched by Dr Pradip Sharma, Executive Director, Centre for Rural Development, Basant Khetan, Pro-Chancellor, Kaziranga University, and Dr Prashanta Kumar Mishra, president, North Eastern Knowledge Foundation, in the presence of eminent persons from the academia and industry, students and media persons.

The release event included the appearance of astronaut E Michael �Mike� Fincke, who participated from the NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration) Space Center at Houston through video conferencing. The presence of Mike during the event inspired the participating teachers and students of the university and a few other colleges and schools.

During the event, Mike interacted with the students and faculty members and shared valuable information and his experiences. He expressed his pleasure on seeing the facilities available to the students and special guidance from teachers at the Kaziranga University.
