NPS International School shines in Mauritius

GUWAHATI, Aug 3 - A 21-member delegation from NPS International School, Guwahati, comprising students and teachers, participated in the 7th Quality Youth Initiatives Summit -2018 in Mauritius from July 22- 28. The theme of the summit was �Nurturing the Younger Generation for a Quality Tomorrow�.

The NPS team along with other international teams was given a warm welcome by the acting President of the Republic of Mauritius, Paramasivam Pillay Vyapoory. The team was also welcomed by the Speaker of the Mauritian Parliament Mrs Santi Bai Hanoomanjee and the Mayor of Quatre Bornes. The NPS delegation also visited the Mauritian Parliament, State Museum, Mauritius University and many other places of tourist interest.

The Quality Youth Forum and all the competitions were organised by Saint Esprit College. The President of Mauritius inaugurated the summit on July 24 in the presence of a large and distinguished gathering. Some of the prominent schools which participated in the Youth Summit were NPS International School, Guwahati, Delhi Public School, Ghaziabad, DRV DAV Centenary Public School, Jalandhar, GEMS International School, Gurgaon, Modernage Public School, Pakistan, Saint Espirit College, Quarte Bornes, Mahatma Gandhi Institute and other prominent Mauritian schools.

The competitions included were: Case Studies presentation, Debate, Public Speaking, Mathematics competitions, Hindi Poem Recitation, Poster and Slogan making competition and Group dance. NPS International School students bagged the Best Discipline Trophy and the Overall Championship Trophy � 2018. The debating team received the Best Speaker For the Motion, Best Speaker Against the Motion and Best Debating Team. In Case Studies the Senior Team got the Philip Crossby Award while the Junior team received the coveted Juran Award. The Junior Team received the First Prize in Poster & Slogan making and the Senior team got the Runners Up trophy in the same. NPS won the First Prize in Mathematics competition, Best Speaker Award in Public speaking & Runners Up trophy in Hindi Poem competition. Founder chairman of the school, JN Das and the Principal, Probhati Biswas also accompanied the school team to Mauritius.
