NPF office damaged in twin blasts

By Correspondent

DIMAPUR, June 25 The division office of ruling Naga Peoples Front (NPF) in Mokokchung district was damaged in two explosions. However, there was no report of any casualty, police said today.

Police said two IED explosions took place simultaneously in two rooms of the ruling NPF Mokokchung Division office in the wee hours today.

The rooms have been completely damaged, the police said, adding no casualty has been reported in the explosions. Police are conducting preliminary investigation but no arrest has been made.

The NPF has condemned the incident as an act of sheer hooliganism and notoriety that calls for condemnation in the highest degree.

Meanwhile, castaway NPF legislator Imkong L Imchen described his party Central offices decision to dissolve the NPF Mokokchung Division as totally uncalled for and something very painful and regrettable.

In a press statement, Imchen, who was stripped off his portfolio as Minister for Health and Family Welfare in the recent Cabinet reshuffle by Chief Minister TR Zeliang, said, other punitive measures were at hand for the NPF Central command, while adding that the decision to dissolve the NPF Mokokchung division was the most extreme.

The NPF Mokokchung Division is the biggest division in the state having ten assembly constituencies in the State, Imchen said. In a separate statement, Imchen condemned the attack on NPF office building by some unscrupulous people.
