NPF demands fresh Assembly polls in Manipur

IMPHAL, Feb 24 � The Naga People�s Front (NPF) which fielded 12 candidates in the recently-concluded Manipur Assembly polls, has demanded fresh poll at all the 60 Assembly seats in Manipur rather than conducting re-poll in selected polling stations.

This was stated by NPF leaders during a media interaction at Senapati district headquarters, 60 km north of here on Tuesday.

The political advisor to CM Neiphiu Rio of Nagaland, Z Lohe had come to Senapati to hold a consultation programme with the NPF candidates, who had contested in the January 28 Manipur Assembly polls.

The NPF leader expressed apprehension over the ongoing photo comparison process at the CEO�s office. after they detected many proxies voting while scrutinizing the photo of voters taken on the polling day with their respective photographs in the electoral rolls at 177 polling stations under 13 Assembly Constituencies in Manipur�s six districts.

Stating that they have faith in Election Commission of India (ECI), the party leaders also demanded justice while taking up poll process in Manipur.

After attending a non-congress parties meet in Imphal recently,NPF Manipur unit advisor PA Thekho told media that the party being the regional political party,will join hands with any like minded regional parties in forming a coalition government in the state.
