NPF committed to solution of Naga problem

KOHIMA, March 15 � Nagaland Governor Nikhil Kumar today said that the Naga People�s Front (NPF) led Democratic Alliance of Nagaland (DAN) Government was committed to a speedy and honourable resolution of the Naga political problem.

Delivering his last address in the House, Kumar said that the State recognised the Naga political problem as a key issue for the future of the people and remained committed to facilitate the long standing problem.

He said the State Government hoped that the Government of India and the Naga nationalist groups would work out the much awaited solution of the Naga problem sooner than later.

The Governor, who has been transferred to Kerala for the remainder of his term, also said that the State Government was focusing on improving agriculture and the target of food grain production for the current year was 5.98 lakh tonnes.

He said that around four lakh job card holders were now getting wages through MGNREGS. Under the IAY scheme assistance was provided for 6,500 houses this year alone.

A new programme, National Rural Livelihood Mission was launched in Jakhama block in Kohima, Pfutero block in Phek and Longleng block in Longleng district, which would be expanded to cover more blocks in the next financial year. � PTI
