NPF appeals against Good Governance Day

By The Assam Tribune

KOHIMA, Nov 29 - The ruling Naga Peoples Front (NPF) today appealed to the Centre not to impose Good Governance Day on December 25, which coincides with Christmas as the day is most revered by the Christian community.

The appeal was made through a resolution of the NPF Central Executive Council Meeting held at its party headquarter here in presence of representatives from NPF leaders from Manipur and Arunachal Pradesh.

The NPF CEC also extended support to the Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA) resolution adopted during its November 22 to 24 winter session revoking the restriction on 33 pc women reservation in urban local bodies passed on September 22, 2012 by NLA.

The NPF CEC also asserted to continue to extend its support to the ongoing peace process between the NSCN-IM and the Central government, while also reiterating the stand that integration is and must be an integral part of the dialogue.

Further, the NPF CEC has urged the State government to take stringent step in protecting the flora and fauna of the State. PTI
