NPCC condemns attacks on Christians

By Correspondent

DIMAPUR, Dec 22 - Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) has vehemently condemned the recent spate of attacks on Christian community across the country. It said the deafening silence of the BJP Government at the Centre to allow some religious fanatics to issue their diktats on the peaceful Christian Community is appalling.

The State Congress demanded that the Central Government take immediate action to rein in these extreme religious outfits and assure protection to the lives and rights of its citizens across the nation.

The arrest of Christmas Carol singing group in Madhya Pradesh by the police, burning down their vehicles by extreme religious outfits on false allegation of religious conversion and banning Christmas celebrations in Uttar Pradesh by a certain religious outfit is an outright assault on the secular fabric of the Indian Constitution, NPCC said in a release yesterday.

It alleged that ever since the BJP came to power in May 2014, various religious outfits and fringe elements have been allowed to run riot with scant regard to the law of the land.

The State Congress also called it very unfortunate that the NPF-BJP Government in Nagaland has remained mute spectator to all these happenings.
