Noted sports organizer passes away

GUWAHATI, Dec 5 - Chitta Ranjan Bhowmic, a well known sports organiser of the State passed away at the age of 83 today after a prolonged illness at his Rehabari residence here.

Bhowmic was former head master of the Bengali Girls High School, Paltan Bazar and was secretary of the Guwahati Sports Association (GSA) in 1990-91. He also served the Assam Table Tennis Association and Assam Football Association (AFA) as treasurer and closely associated with Assam Cricket Association (ACA) and Assam Badminton Association (ABA).

A confirmed bachelor Bhowmic was instrumental in producing several international and national level TT and badminton layers. State TT body president Mriganka Barman, secretary Tridib Duvarah, GSA president Munin Nobis, ACA, AFA and sports fraternity of the city condoled the death of Bhowmic.
