DOOMDOOMA, Feb 1 - A book titled Nabya Udarbador Prekhyapotat Asomiya Jatiyatabadar Samashya Aru Annanya, which is a collection of articles written by noted economist and retired Vice Principal of Tinsukia College Dr Jyotiprasad Chaliha was released in a solemn function held at the conference hall of Bishnujyoti Sanskritik Samaj at Tinsukia on Friday.
The book was formally released by Ajit Phukan, a former student of the author and Associate Professor in the Department of Economics in Tinsukia College.
Inaugurating the book by his teacher, Phukan observed, �At a time when the economy of our country is suffering from great crisis, there is a need for books on economy which can inspire the society with new thought.�
The inaugural meeting was chaired by senior journalist Amulya Khataniar. A synopsis of the book was presented in the meeting by Dr Apurba Bhaskar Gogoi, former Vice Principal of Tinsukia College.
The meeting was also addressed by noted children�s litterateur and playwright Harendra Nath Borthakur, former acting Vice Chancellor of Tezpur University Dr Madan Sharma, retired teacher Purnananda Baruah, professor of Tinsukia College Ranjan Kumar Das, Principal of Tinsukia College Dr Suryya Chutiya and several others.
They expressed the hope that the society would be benefited by this book.
Earlier, the secretary of Bishnujyoti Sanskritik Samaj Purna Kakoti presented a short biographical sketch of the author.
