DOOMDOOMA, Dec 20 - After ten days of turbulence, Tinsukia district is limping back to normalcy. Vehicles resumed plying without any obstruction along by anti-CAA protesters along the NH-37, NH-38 and NH-15 since Thursday. The business establishments, particularly the traders, opened their shutters even as protests against Citizenship (Amendment) Act, 2019 continued in regulated manner in the entire district by various organisations.
Night curfew has been partially relaxed on Friday and imposed from 8 pm to 5 am with no untoward incident reported from anywhere of the district. Railway service of Tinsukia Division of NFR is yet to be restored fully.
On Friday, the members of Doomdooma Mohila Samity staged a sit-in protest at Gandhi Chowk of Doomdooma town against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, 2019. The public of Rupai Siding continued their protest against CAA. On Friday too, people of the area staged a sit-in strike in front of the Circle Office of Doomdooma Revenue Circle. On the other hand, Tipuk Sub-branch Committee of Assam Tea Tribes Students� Association (ATTSA) organised a Jana Jagaran Sabha at Tipuk TELP School playground. Addressing the meeting, ATTSA Tinsukia District Committee assistant secretary Upendra Harpal, Doomdooma Sakha Sahitya Sabha secretary Deben Deka, advocate Rituraj Phukan and others explained the ill-effects of CAA.
