IMPHAL, `June 6 - Several shops run by non-locals in Imphal were ransacked by volunteers of Kangleipak Students Association (KSA) on Monday.

Goods were pulled out and thrown on the streets in Kakhulong and Masjid areas under Paona Bazaar in Imphal West around 3 pm today. Most of the vandalised shops were groceries and other shops selling betel leaves.

Police rushed to the spot but the student volunteers managed to flee.

Recently, five KSA volunteers, including its general secretary, were arrested by police after the student body pulled up two non-locals on the charge of selling adulterated common salt packets in Imphal markets. The Association has demanded unconditional release of their leaders.
