No potassium bromade in Meghalaya breads

SHILLONG, Aug 5 - Breads manufactured in Meghalaya do not contain Potassium Bromate, a test of 23 random samples of bread from the State has revealed.

�The analysis report of 23 samples of bread has been received where it is confirmed that Potassium Bromate (a harmful additive) is not present in any of the bread samples tested,� the Health department has informed.

The bread samples were drawn from the market and sent for analysis to the Food Analyst, Government of Assam, in Guwahati.

�Therefore, bread manufactured and sold in Meghalaya is considered safe for consumption. However, monitoring of the safety aspects of such products shall continue in the interest of the consumers,� the Health department stated.
