BONGAIGAON, Nov 10 - Nine members of the 12-member Bongaigaon Zila Parishad have brought a no-confidence motion against its chairperson, Lina Singha, for her alleged involvement in corruption and dictatorial attitude.

The members who brought the motion against Singha were: Gokul Kalita, Pranab Chaudhury, Anurupa Rajbongshi, Jyotsna Nath, Surman Ali, Noushad Ali, Sahjahan Ali, Jebinara Ahmed and Pranita Bala Sarkar.

Dissatisfied with her (Singhas) involvement in corruption and dictatorship, we seek a new chairperson in her place through our non-confidence motion. read the letter to the Deputy Commissioner (Biswajit Pegu) submitted on Monday by the group of nine dissident members. When contacted by this correspondent, Singha denied all the charges brought against her by the members and she sees a political plot behind this development.

Electing Singha, who is a woman leader of AGP, as the president, AGP with AIUDF and CPI(M) had formed the Zila Parishad combining three, three and one seat respectively pushing behind the Congress, who won five ZPCs in the district, on March 5 in 2013.
