NN Bhattacharya Trophy from tomorrow

GUWAHATI, July 1 � The Guwahati Sports Association (GSA) will start its football season this year with the Kaamakaji NN Bhattacharya Trophy Tournament at the Nehru Stadium here on Sunday.

Announcing it officially in a press conference here today, GSA general secretary Munin Nobis said that the 3rd edition of the Kaamakaji NN Bhattacharya Football Tournament will be a knock-out affair and 15 city based teams affiliated to GSA will be in fray for the title.

Along with Kaamakaji Restaurant, the family members of NN Bhattacharya will also offer financial support to GSA for holding the championship, said Nobis. The top two teams will get cash award along with the NN Bhatta champion�s trophy and the Murad Ahmed runners-up trophy. Best player of every match will get Rs 500 each which will be donated by Hemanta Gogoi.

Sponsors Ruli Ahmed, Jatin Bhattacharya, GSA officials Bhola Boro, Hemanta Singh, Nabab Ali, Amba Saikia Patgiri, Jehirul Haque along with other officials were present in the press meet.

Sarusajai SC will take on Rising XI in the opening match on July 3 at 3 pm while the final has been slated for July 16.

The participating teams are: Gauhati Town Club, ASEB Sports Club, Assam Police Blues, Green Valley SC, SAI SC, NF Rly SC, FCI SC, Dynamo Club, City Police, Rising XI, Nabajyoti Club, Jewel Star Club, Chandmari SC, Sarusajai SC and Abutani SC.
