NITI Ayog Adviser visits Mizoram

AIZAWL, April 17 - NITI Ayog Adviser Dr Ashok Kumar Jain visited Kolasib district in Mizoram recently where he inspected the various initiatives of Rural Development department and the initiatives under Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.

Dr Jain expressed satisfaction over the initiatives of RD department and those under Swach Bharat. He was told that the main problem faced by the latter was slow movement of fund.

The departments told the visiting Central official that their remaining target of renovating 1,118 toilets under Swachh Bharat in the district shall be completed within a year as soon as the fund for the same is received. They also informed that Kolasib district is now open-defecation free.

The departments also apprised that under IAY, there are 961 families in the waiting list.

Dr Jain also inspected the 6.9 km road constructed at Mualkhang under PMGSY, houses constructed under IAY, toilets constructed under Swachh Bharat by PHE dept, works under IWMP and Bualpui water tank constructed under NREGS, individual water tanks constructed at Thingdawl under IAY for 114 families and works in Kolasib town under IWMP and NREGS.
