Nine in the fray from Kokrajhar HPC

KOKRAJHAR, April 21 - Campaigning for the Kokrajhar Lok Sabha seat ended this evening, as more than 17 lakh voters would now decide the fate of the nine candidates who are vying for the seat, election for which would be held on April 23.

Out of these 17 lakh voters there are 8,93,237 male and 8,55,590 female voters in this constituency.

For the prestigious Kokrajhar Lok Sabha seat there are nine candidates with sitting MP Naba Kumar Sarania.

The other candidates in the fray include Pramila Rani Brahma of BPF, UG Brahma of UPPL and a candidate backed by ABSU and its allied organisations like BPPF, NDFB (P), UDPF and PJACBM, Sabda Ram Rabha of Congress, Biraj Deka of CPI(M), Charan Iswary (Ind), Rajesh Narzary (Ind), Prasanjit Kr Das (Ind), and Ranjay Kr Brahma (Ind).

There are 2347 polling stations spread across 10 Assembly constituencies which includes 28-Gossaigaon, 29-Kokrajhar West (ST), 30-East Kokrajhar (ST), 31-Sidli (ST), 33-Bijni, 40-Sorbhog, 41-Bhabanipur, 58-Tamulpur, 62-Barama and 63-Chapaguri spread over Kokrajhar, Chirang, Barpeta and Nalbari districts. Meanwhile, the All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) chief Badaruddin Ajmal addressed a huge election rally today at Fakiragram in Kokrajhar district in support of UPPL candidate UG Brahma.

BPF supremo Hagrama Mohilary and BPF candidate Pramila Rani Brahma also attended a series of election rallies in Kokrajhar and appealed to voters to cast their votes in favour of the BPF candidate for the overall development of this region.
