Night city bus service launched

GUWAHATI, Oct 1 - The long-awaited Night City Bus Service was launched in the city this evening.

The first bus was ceremoniously flagged off from in front of the Veterinary College, Khanapara, at 7.30 pm today.

To begin with, buses from the ASTC and private city bus associations will now ply till midnight at three selected routes � route numbers 6, 8 and 28 � on an experimental basis.

The night bus service will now operate in the Khanapara to Khanapara route (via Six Mile, Ganeshguri, Bhangagarh, Ulubari, Paltan Bazar, Panbazar, Bharalumukh, Maligaon, Adabari, Jalukbari, Garchuk, ISBT, Lokhara Chariali, Basistha Chariali, Khanapara and vice-versa), the Jalukbari to Khanapara route (via Adabari, Bharalumukh, Kachari, Uzanbazar, Guwahati Club, Chandmari flyover, RG Baruah Road, Ganeshguri, Six Mile, Khanapara and vice-versa) and the Forest Gate to ISBT and Betkuchi route (via Noonmati, Bamunimaidam, Chandmari, Guwahati Club, Uzanbazar, Kachari, Bharalumukh, Adabari, Jalukbari and vice-versa).

The fare for the night bus service will be 50 per cent more than the existing prescribed fare of city buses.
