Night city bus service from today

GUWAHATI, Sept 30 - The long-awaited night city bus service in the city will be rolled out tomorrow.

To begin with, buses from the ASTC and private city bus associations will now ply till midnight in three selected routes � route numbers 6, 8 and 28 � on an experimental basis.

The flagging-off ceremony for the night city bus service will be held in front of the field of the College of Veterinary Science, Khanapara at 7.30 pm tomorrow.

Night city buses will operate in the Khanapara-Khanapara route via Six Mile, Ganeshguri, Bhangagarh, Ulubari, Paltanbazar, Panbazar, Bharalumukh, Maligaon, Adabari, Jalukbari, Garchuk, ISBT, Lokhara Chariali, Basistha Chariali, Khanapara and vice versa). In the Jalukbari-Khanapara route buses will ply via Adabari, Bharalumukh, Kachari, Uzanbazar, Guwahati Club, Chandmari Flyover, RG Baruah Road, Ganeshguri, Six Mile, Khanapara and vice versa) and in the Forest Gate-ISBT- Betkuchi route buses will ply via Noonmati, Bamunimaidam, Chandmari, Guwahati Club, Uzanbazar, Kachari, Bharalumukh, Adabari, Jalukbari and vice versa.

The fare for the night service will be 50 per cent more than the existing prescribed fare of city buses.

Currently, as per Regional Transport Authority (RTA) rules, city buses in the city can ply from 4 am to 8 pm. Now, in the three selected routes buses will run till midnight for convenience of passengers.
