By Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, Nov 2 Sleuths of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) conducted searches in the houses of some close relatives, including Jakaria, the brother of the most wanted suspect of Burdwan blast Sahanur Alam alias doctor in Barpeta district today.

Jakaria Ali, who owned an optical shop, was arrested by Barpeta Police on October 28.

A team of NIA is already in the State and carrying out investigation into the case for quite some time.

Some incriminating documents seized by the investigators during the searches are being examined, sources in the NIA said. The searches will continue in some more places in the days to come, an official of the investigating agency said.

The NIA on Saturday issued photographs of 12 key operatives of the Jamaat-ul-Mujaheedin, Bangladesh (JMB) which include the name of Sahanur, accused of leading the operation in Assam.

The NIA has also announced cash reward for anyone who would provide information about the whereabouts of any of the 12 key operatives.

The State Government has already decided to hand over the cases related to jihadi activities to the NIA. Sources hinted that searches could be conducted in some places in Barpeta and adjoining areas, but refrained from naming anyone in this regard.
