TEZPUR, Jan 7 � The National Investigation Agency (NIA) team, led by its Director General Sharad Kumar and accompanied by a host of officials of the police and civil administration of Sonitpur district, today visited the areas, affected in the NDFB(S) carnage, and met affected families at Hatijuli-Santipur in the Batachipur area under the Dhekiajuli PS and at Sonajuli in Biswanath Chariali.
In the Hatijuli-Santipur area, six and in the Sonajuli area, 36 Adivasi people were killed by NDFB(S) militants on December 23. A total of three cases were registered in the Dhekiajuli PS and the Biswanath Chariali PS (738/14, 214/14 and 215/14) which are being handled by the NIA.
The NIA chief, after visiting the Hatijuli-Santipur area in Dhekiajuli, also interacted with the affected people. Interacting with one of the witnesses to the senseless killings, Bhadre Hasda, who is still battling for his life after sustaining serious bullet injuries in the NDFB(S) carnage, NIA chief Sharad Kumar said that the investigation is going on and action will be taken to book the culprits involved in the massacre.
Meanwhile, the top official of the highest investigation agency, visited Sonajuli which is the worst affected area in the incident and took stock of the situation. However, when asked about the progress of the probe, Kumar refrained from giving any comments to the media and only stated the media would be briefed after a thorough investigation.
It is pertinent to mention that the team was accompanied by the DIG, Northern Range, Subrajyoti Hazarika, ADC, Sonitpur, Farid Ahmed, DSP Ranjit Singh Teli and Sub-Inspector Faruk Ahmed.
