The erosion protection measure with geo-fabric bags on a stretch of 32 meters was washed away by the rising water of the Subansiri in Katori Chapori area under Kadam Revenue Circle of Lakhimpur district on Thursday. Besides sweeping away the geo-fabric bags the rising river eroded a large portion of the area affecting thousands of people in number of villages on this downstream area of Subansiri. The erosion affected people in No. 2 Rupahi, No. 2 South Rupahi, Haladhiati, Bharatpur, Jorhatiya, Kamalpur, Sivapur, Konchgaon and Hajonggaon villages under Kadam Revenue Circle of Lakhimpur district. The erosion also swept away three households in No. 2 South Rupahi village of Katori Chapori.
