SHILLONG, Oct 10 - About 70 per cent of the ongoing National Highway development projects in the NE have been completed and the rest would be completed by 2016 end.
A Rajya Sabha Committee on Government Assurances reviewing the ongoing Government projects expressed satisfaction at the pace of work in these projects here yesterday.
Chairman of the Committee, Hussain Dalwai said that work in some of the projects have been hampered for various reasons. Another committee member, Dilip Bhai Pandya said work in some of the projects was hampered due to issues of law and order and also land acquisition. �But all these would be completed by December 2016, officials have assured,� Pandya added.
Issues related to rail and air connectivity was also discussed during the meeting.
�The committee also discussed about Kaziranga National Park and the frequent killings of Rhinos in the park�, Dalwai informed.
