GAURIPUR, Dec 25 � A 45 km long stretch of the National Highway-31 from Beparipatty area of Gauripur to Boxirhat bordering West Bengal is in a very pathetic condition due to utter negligence of the National Highway authorities of the country towards its proper maintenance.
It is to be mentioned here that there are dangerous craters all along and untrammeled wearing out of the top layers everywhere. It is quite unfit for the use of the pedestrians and vehicular traffic.
Moreover, the iron fencing along the stretch from Gauripur to Golakganj has virtually made the NH-32 narrow. Hundreds of goods-loaded trucks ply through this highway always causing the highway to such a stage that almost everyday accidents take place.
The negligence of the department since a year past makes the situation more grave. If the department fails to take any immediate measures to properly repair the road, it will naturally become unfit for traffic in the days to come.
