TURA, Nov 22 - Members of several NGOs today staged a sit-in protest in front of the office of Deputy Commissioner of East Garo Hills in Williamnagar. The NGOs � AAYF, FKJGP, GSU, FAF, AIGU and Mothers Federation were protesting against the delay in enquiry into the alleged illegal practices by DSC members.
�We have followed every means of protest and now it is the duty of the government to act and punish those DSC members for denying free and fair competition�, a member of an NGO said.
The members expressed anger at the inaction on their complaints of gross violation of guidelines in the selection of Gram Sevikas, allegedly by the vice chairman and two other members of the District Selection Committee (DSC), Sengbreez Marak, FKJGP general secretary (Eastern Circle) said, �Government jobs do not belong to friends and family of DSC members and this is totally unacceptable.�
