TURA, Oct 11 - All Garo People�s Federation (AGPF) has accused six MDCs of the Garo Hills Automous District Council of withdrawing money without work actually being done on the ground.
�Most of the places where these funds were meant to be spent for developmental activities have not even seen one rupee of work done. The information has come through an RTI filed earlier�, said AGPF president Ching C Marak in a press release.
According to the release, an amount of Rs 1,17,81,600 was withdrawn for Siju by Alphonse Sangma, Rs 95, 37,750 for Rongrikimgre (Willie D Shira), Rs 1,04,30,105 for Silkigre (Simphong), Rs 1,17,3,630 for Gasuapara (OR Marak), Rs 1,47,84,462 for Barengapara (Silgra N Marak) and Rs 1,24,75,450 for Asanangre (Kredithson Ch Marak), though according to the Ngo no work was done on the ground. All the MDCs mentioned above are contesting the ongoing elections to the GHADC.
�These are serious cases of misappropriation and we will seek an investigation into what happened�, said Roshan D Shira, AGPF general secretary.
The NGO is now planning to file another RTI seeking more clarity on the issue.
