GUWAHATI, Sep 1 - Northeast Frontier Railway Sports Club (NFRSC) outplayed struggling Food Corporation of India Sports Club (FCISC) 5-1 in a vital encounter of the RG Baruah Super Division Soccer League held at the Nehru Stadium here on Tuesday. It was the second win of the hot favourite team after losing their first match against Green Valley.
The railway frontliners were on song today and showed good exhibition of football. Sankar Sil and Jelendra Brahma netted twice, while Chayaram Basumatary scored the other goal. Kapil Kumar Ray scored the consolation goal for FCI in dying minutes of the match.
The deadlock was broken by left winger Chayaram in the 16th minute from a calculated pass of Sankar Sil. Chayaram then provided a fine centre from the left flank of the box in the 24th minute to Sankar who shot home. It was Sankar again whose long pass gave Jelendra enough time to score the third goal in the 30th minute. Jelendra scored again in the 41st minute after Sankar�s powerful shot rebounded off the post.
Sankar was in focus again when he scored his second and team�s fifth in the 57th minute as Sibra provided the perfect setting to him. Kapil Kumar Ray scored the only goal for FCI in the 88th minute.
A Division: City Police beat Maharana AC by a solitary goal in the Jibeswar Goswami A Division League at Ground 2 of Nehru Stadium today. Dwaipayan Rabha scored the all important goal in the 2nd minute of the match.
