NF Railway reach 277 for seven

GUWAHATI, May 1 � Riding on a solid opening wicket partnership of 146 between Chandan Rawat and Manoj Malo, NF Railway Sports Association scored a commendable 277 for seven on the opening day of the four-day final of the Nuruddin Trophy Senior Inter District Cricket Championship at Nehru Stadium here today against Silchar.

Only 72 overs were possible on the opening day as around one hour of the day was lost due to bad ground condition.

But the wicket looked full of runs and winning a good toss the Railwaymen decided to bat first. Chandan Rawat (67) and Manoj Malo (88) laid a solid foundation for NF Railway. Sib Sankar Roy (32) and Tarjinder Singh (30) also offered useful contributions to their total.

Mrigen Talukdar is batting with Tarjinder at his individual score of 27 at the end of days play.

Opener Manoj Malo is in good form this season and showing consistency throughout the tournament. Today he faced 140 balls and 14 boundaries.

For Silchar, medium pacer Pritam Das, spinners Kaushik Giri and Raju Das shared two wickets each.
