NF Railway, NER start with winning note

GUWAHATI, March 28 � Host NF Railway and North Eastern Railway started their campaign on a winning note in the 57th All India Inter Railway Cricket Championship.

In two matches played at NF Railway Stadium, Maligaon and Judges� Field here today, NF Railway defeated South Eastern Railway by 49 runs while Central Railway outplayed North Eastern Railway by four wickets.

At Maligaon, NF Railway posted a commendable total of 251 for seven in the stipulated 50 overs with Tarjinder Singh being the top scorer with 51. Mrigen Talukdar and Tushar Saha added 44 and 36 respectively.

In reply, South Eastern Railway were all out for 202 in 49.3 overs. Soham Ghosh was their leading scorer with 55.

At Judges� Field, batting first, Central managed to score 160 losing all the wickets in 40.2 overs. North Eastern Railway had no difficulty in chasing down the target as they got the required runs in 34.4 overs.
