New water supply scheme inaugurated

TEZPUR, May 22 � The new Amula Pam water supply scheme at Amula Pam near Napaam here was formally inaugurated by the Public Health Engineering (PHE) minister Sukur Ali Ahmed today.

Inaugurating the scheme he asserted that fluoride and arsenic infected water is detected in 21 districts in the State and the government with the help of department concerned has been trying to provide potable water to the people of these districts through special filtration programme. Stressing safety to the human resources and safe drinking water for the healthy life he expected cooperation from the rural people in this regard.

In the programme besides the State Cabinet minister a host of distinguished persons of the locality were felicitated. In the welcome address, executive engineer, Tezpur division of PHE department, Bidhan Dey said that the project was completed with an allocation of Rs 80 lakh and will be able to supply safe drinking water to 4,000 people of the locality and urged the local people to extend their helping hand to run the scheme smoothly in the days to come.

In the programme, local MLA, Rajen Barthakur, chief executive engineer, PHE Kamal Sut, Khairul Alom Majumdar president, Napam anchalik panchayat among other local people were present.
