GUWAHATI, July 27 � News Network, a new television channel, is going to be launched next month from Guwahati. The new channel will try to cater to the needs of the entire populace of Assam and thousands of non-resident Assamese families around the world through cable and Internet communication, informed Rana Zaman, CMD of News Network, recently.
The office of the channel is at Ulubari, from where it will beam news bulletins from early morning to late even-ing. Moreover, viewers will get news updates throughout the day. News Network will be guided by an advisory board comprising some distinguished personalities from different fields of activities. The advisory board will keep an eye on all programmes telecast by the channel and provide feedback.
News Network will seek to present news with sincerity, impartiality and credibility. Moreover insisting on factual reality in the news content and disseminating information with ethical norms will be its motto, said its editor N Thakuria.
Although satellite news channels have proliferated in the region, the response to the news channels from the audience is divided. While a section believes that the local channels are helping in disseminating information quickly, the other section argues that channels have lowered the standard of journalism, Thakuria added.
