GANGTOK, June 12 - Sikkim Pollution Control Board in coordination with Forest Environment & Wildlife Management department discussed waste management with Pharmaceutical companies and Hydro electric power projects as part of the initiative to sensitise them on implementation of the new rules on waste management and water cess. The meeting took place on June 8 and 9.
Various issues pertaining to waste management and problems faced by the units were discussed at length and the units have agreed to comply with the new Rules, official sources said. Altogether 40 Pharmaceutical units and 15 Hydro electric power projects attended the interactive meeting.
The newly amended Rules were Bio-medical Waste Management Rules 2016, Construction & Demolition Waste Management Rules 2016, E-Waste (Management) Rules 2016, Plastic Waste Management Rules 2016, Solid Waste Management Rules 2016, Hazardous & other Waste (Management & Trans-boundary Movement) Rules 2016. � PTI
